Our Fees

We offer a free initial telephone appointment in order to gain a clear understanding of your case and potential costs.  Our fees can be fixed or hourly rate, based on the nature of your case.

We are committed to serving your needs and we are able to provide a bespoke service. 

Probate (Uncontested) Fees
We can help you through this difficult process by obtaining the Grant of Probate on your behalf. We will also assist with the collecting and distributing of assets. We will work with you at this sensitive time to do so.

How much does this service cost?
Our service commences with a 1 hour consultation where we will look at all relevant papers and documentation to assess the estate. Consultation fee is from £150 plus vat for 1 hour.

Our fixed fee for a straight forward Grant of Probate application:
From £1,300.00 plus vat (20%)
There are a number of factors that will affect the complexity of an estate, including, the number of beneficiaries, the type nature and location of assets and whether there is a valid Will.

Administration of Estate
Collecting assets and distributing them. We charge a Fixed fee of 1,700 (+vat) plus 3.5 to 4% of the gross value of the estate in straight forward cases.

We are flexible and an hourly rate fee may also be considered for straight forward cases. Protracted or complex matters will attract our hourly rate fee. See below under ‘Complex Cases’.

Complex Cases
Complex applications will attract an increase in fixed fees which will be agreed with you and a quote will be provided in advance. There will be an additional charge for complex cases on an hourly rate basis at £195 plus vat per hour for a Solicitor and £100 per hour for a Paralegal. There will be further charges of one tenth of our hourly rate for other matters such as; attendance, receiving and sending letters, emails and all telephone calls.

Breakdown of other costs:
Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as court fees. We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process. Vat may be added to disbursements.

Disbursements:(Estimated fees).  Probate court fee of around – £273 (No fees if estate below the value of £5,000).  Additional copies of the grant of representation – £1.50 per copy

Bankruptcy-only Land Charges Department searches – £2 per beneficiary
Post in The London Gazette – Protects against unexpected claims from unknown creditors around – £160 estimate

There may be other disbursements due to the specific needs of the estate. As part of our fixed fee we will:  Provide you with a dedicated and experienced solicitor to work on your matter. Advice on the practical issues of probate.
Identify the legally appointed executors or administrators and beneficiaries.
Accurately identify the type of Probate application you will require.
Obtain the relevant documents required to make the application.
Complete the Probate. Application and the relevant HMRC forms.
Draft a legal oath for you to swear.  Make the application to the Probate Court on your behalf. Obtain the Probate and securely send two copies to you.
Assist with collecting and distributing assets in the estate.
On average, obtaining the grant of probate can take up to 12 weeks. Estate
administration can be dealt with within 6-12 months subject to any complex issues.

Contentious Probate Matters
We will deal with contentious matters and also apply for the grant and collect and distribute the assets where necessary. Our Fees can be:

  1. Payment by hourly rate at £195 per hour plus vat for Solicitor and £100 per hour for Paralegal. There will be further charges of one tenth of our hourly rate for other matters such as, attendance, receiving and sending letters, emails and all telephone calls.
  2. Payment by agreed fee
    We will provide an estimate quotation of costs following a consultation appointment with our experienced Solicitor.
